Comics

You know what I like doing?

Drawing Comics and Such!

I mean, look at this zombie to the right of us?
Isn't she well rendered?
(Also, I call the rights to Zom Zom Zom.)

I also draw other comics. I show them to my friends to make them laugh. They are about a hedgehog named Benji, an alien with a beard named Steve, and a Mustache named Mustache.

Would you like to see them in the future?
Maybe!

Speaking of comics, there are a lot of them on the web.

Here's some of my favorites: xkcd, Questionable Content, Sam and Fuzzy, and Dinosaur Comics. Now I have to get off cause my mom says so. (Plus, you know, homework.)

Later!

Edit: The work of Dr. McNinja is also fantastic, especially if you like Ninjas, Velociraptors, and Ridiculous Mustaches on 11 year-old boys. Last I checked, that was like... EVERYONE EVER. So you should totally read it. (Also, four volumes are about Ninja Zombies. Seriously! So read it.)

Is Work Going To Be... Impossible?

So I'm doing my math homework, right?

And I've been cruising, now that I understand it.

And then all of a sudden, I can't do it anymore.
I literally can't do it anymore.
I don't have the mental processes to do it. It's too hard. It's beyond my mental capabilities.

And I just realized...

Does Work have this as well?
I mean, are there things that people are gonna ask you to do in the future that are actually impossible?
Is there going to be things that you want to do but you can't, because it's not actually possible, or because you don't see any reasonable solution for it?

Signs point to yes.

We see this all the time; in politics, in ethics, in humanitarianism.
In fact, the only place that we don't see this is in business.

Is this part of the reason that we can't do things for the good of the people? Because we don't actually have the brains to understand how it will work, or whether it will at all?
Is this why there is so much business, not only because it's one of the only things you can do to get money, but because everything else requires solutions that you can't actually get to?
Is this why almost no one can become a scientist, or a mathematician, or a physicist? Because they can't?

If this is so, then I petition robot brains.

End of Thanksgiving

So it's the end of Thanksgiving weekend, and I'm here at my computer again.
By tomorrow, it will all be over for another few weeks until winter break.
But we're not here to talk about that! No! We're here to talk about the future! The immediate and immediately after winter break future!

-The future includes tomorrow, in which I will complete all of my homework and be happy about it.
-The future includes the next two weeks, in which I will study and be successful in relation to school, homework, and other pressuring things (that is, things that create pressure).
-The future includes a hopefully successful scholarship application for a trip to China this summer.
-The future that goes in hand with that is Chinese, and the promise to retain at least a quarter of all that I have learned in the last few weeks, and these two future weeks.
-The future includes the shaving off of this mustache, and perhaps the beard.
-The future includes the documentary of Hank Green in Portland (finally!).
-The future includes a trip to cousins in Connecticut (and even if it is during Christmas Break, so what? I didn't say I was going to stay off the topic of Break altogether.)

So all in all, the future looks pretty good. Here's to you, future.

(Now off to do that pesky assignment stuff and such.)

Zombies

You know what's awesome?

Zombies!

No, I'm not saying that if Zombies started attacking that would be awesome (Although, it would be significantly cooler than some other things we'd have to survive against.)

I'm saying, the effect that Zombies have on our popular culture these days.

You've got it covered in books; Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the ones by Max Brooks. Then you have Zombies in the movies; Dawn (Shawn) of the Dead. And then you've got the two Left 4 Dead games, which, I don't know about you, but is probably a turning point for most would-be Zombie killers.

All which points to the fact that more and more, we like Zombies.

Why though?

Personally, I don't relish the thought that if there was in fact a Zombie apocalypse, that everyone, including myself would die. (That's why I have a morbid fascination with Zombies, of course. You know, 'Know Thine Enemy'. Got to be prepared.)

But we still have an increased interested in Zombies. Heck, it was even in the news!
Why is this?

A little while ago, I saw a comic that tried to make a statement about this.
It said that Zombies are the ultimate way to underline the failures of society and humanity, without dehumanizing people themselves.

So really, when we're fighting off Zombies, we are trying to fight off what makes us bad.
Bad humans.
Bad neighbors.
Bad parents.
Bad children.
Bad friends.
Bad people.

College

Something that people are always asking me about that I haven't really given much thought to is college.

I mean, college?
College?

I know that it's only 2-3 years away, but still, that makes me seem like a whole different person.
Just imagine me, or yourself, if you're still younger than your college years, going to college.
Imagine trying to find what you want to do with your life.

Who am I to say what I want to do with my life?
Heck, I haven't even tried to learn how to drive yet.
College, man. College.

I guess, if I had to go to college now, at this point in my life, I'd like to be somewhere in a city.
A place where you can feel connected, surrounded by people.

I'd like to get an engineering major, with a minor in philosophy. If at all possible, I would love to get a multi-media degree in there as well.

I'd like to be somewhere where people are truthful, open, playful, funny, honest, hardworking, and interesting.

I'd like to be somewhere where I can feel life is spreading out before me, and no matter what I do, I will succeed.
That would be nice.

Hi.

I'd like to say I'm an interesting person.

Really, I do.

It's just sometimes, when there gets to be too many things, too much stuff to deal with, we shut down. We just go into work mode. Or we hide away to get away from it all.

That's how it's been in my life lately. There are many things to do, many things that are not very interesting, and yet suck away my time.

I'd like to be creative. I'd like all the time in the world to do that. I'd like to be able to just sit down, pull my life together, and come out with something to be proud of.

Sometimes I won't.
Sometimes I won't be brilliant.
Sometimes I won't be witty.
Sometimes I won't be anything.

Sometimes I'll just complain about how all the time I'm frittering my life away, instead of doing something important, even if it is something I'd like to do.

But perhaps sometimes, I'll hit something true inside of me.
And perhaps, it will be true inside of you.

I'd like that.
